Accordion shutters are similar to a sliding door in that they are installed on tracks, which keep the shutters in place and make for easy opening and closing. They are called “accordion” because the fabric or material folds and extends similarly to the body of an accordion. These shutters are very popular because consumers have their choice of material and color. Accordion shutters are also great for protection from storms as well as thieves. Another desirable feature is the ability to operate them from with the comfort of your home.

·    Vertical blades allow for installation of any width

·    Stainless steel roller carriage system makes for easy opening and closing

·    Shutters glide along tracks along the top and bottom of the opening

·    Install to open right, left or from the center, and can be stacked to one or both sides

·    Locking system protects against forced entry and theft

Shutter Blades and Centermates – All blades are of hollow post construction 6063-T6 extruded aluminum. Blade material is available in Type One .050 or Type Two .062 thickness and constructed of 6063-T6 extrude d aluminum. Storm accordions stack in about 30 percent less space than most systems and utilize a lower profile centermate. The combination of deeper corrugation, larger hinge points and pin diameter dramatically increases the overall strength of the system. The increased level of performance allows installation of large spans in areas that demand higher pressures without the need for locking rods.

Wheels and Bushings – Self-lubricating wheels and bushings are fiberglass impregnated nylon for strength, long life and low maintenance. The wheel edge is rounded, enabling Storm Smart accordions to take radii without jamming. This wheel design makes for easy rolling of large blade sections and for overall super smooth rolling action.

Header & Bottom Tracks – Heavy duty extruded aluminum header and bottom tracks are available in ceiling mount, wall mount, walkover or build-out design. Tracks are felt-lined for noise reduction and ease of operation. Stronger header and bottom tracks provide maximum protection in high winds. Two-piece floor tracks or wall-mount tracks adjust for leveling. Floor track may be removable for use in front of glass, entry or garage doors.

Locks – Keyed lock can be installed inside or outside for privacy and security. The key lock provides more security from intruders. An optional heavy duty store-front lock is available, which can be operated from both inside and outside.
